The brief here is the ordinary one, done properly: a family of four, a builder-standard 3BHK, and the usual tension between wanting calm and needing to put things away. The answer is to make the storage disappear into the wall line. Fluted oak panelling runs the length of the living room and quietly contains everything; the palette stays ivory and linen so the rooms read larger than they measure. Nothing here depends on a big budget — it depends on the joinery being drawn properly before it is made.
Four decisions
that shape it.
Storage inside the wall line
Full-height joinery is set flush with the plaster so the room reads as a rectangle, not as a rectangle with cupboards in it.
Fluting to break a long wall
Vertical fluting gives a 6-metre wall a rhythm and hides every shutter joint in the shadow line.
Ivory over white
A warm off-white holds Bengaluru afternoon light without going grey or clinical the way pure white does.
One shared study, not three desks
A single built-in run near the living room serves homework and work-from-home, which is how these apartments are actually used.
Walk through it.
The same home resolved through every principal room, so the palette and the detailing hold together rather than changing at each door.
